Han skriver at han avmønstret "Lyra" på Svalbard. Seilingslisten (Riksarkivet) viser at skipet gikk fra Bergen 7.4.40 og ankom Reykjavik 14.4.40. Han er i Registration Card oppført som flyktning (refugee) fra Svalbard, men er i warsailors oppført blant overlevende mannskap fra "Dagny I". Han gikk inn i marinen 22.8.41. Dimittert 4.12.45. Mønstringsdatoer er ført i henhold til oppgave fra Direktoratet for sjømenn datert 8. april 1968.
