Gift 1917 i Brooklyn med Lene Nilsen, f. 1892 i Arendal, d. 1925 i Tønsberg. 3 barn. Var på m/t Kongsgaard. Skipet ble torpedert, kapteinen og maskinmesteren ble alene igjen ombord og fikk brakt det inn til Amerika. Omkom da skipet ble torpedert 2. gang 21. februar 1942 utenfor Amerikas vestkyst på vei til Aruba.
