MATHISEN, EDVARD HJALMAR, sjømann, Skjeberg. Født 26. august 1894 i Skjeberg, s. av Kristian Mathisen, f. 1864 i Skjeberg, d. 1935 s. st., og Kristine f. Jakobsdatter, f. 1862 i Dalsland i Sverige, d. 1937 i Skjeberg. Gift 1932 i Skjeberg med Miriam Thorkilsen, f. 1914 i Fredrikstad. 2 barn. Hadde vært mange år på hvalfangst. Var sist på d/s Miranda, og omkom 20. januar 1940 da skipet sank etter en eksplosjon, ca. 30 n. mil av Peterhead, Skottland, på vei fra Blyth til Oslo. (Fra «Våre falne»)
