Hans Kristian Larsen var om bord på MT Sandefjord da denne ble kapret av krysseren Admiral Scheer i Januar 1941, etter en tid i tysk fangenskap ble Larsen sammen med resten av mannskapet repatriert hjem til Norge sommeren 1941.
