Fra Nortrashipsflåtens Skyttere 1941 til 1946.
Antatt i marinen den 4.august 1945 og utdannet til skytter i Dumbarton, Skottland.
På grunn av freden med Japan, var det ikke lenger bruk for skyttere på norske skip bestemt for Østen.
Etter hjemkomsten til Norge gjorde han tjeneste i Bakarvågen ved Bergen, inntil dimittering den 18.august 1946.
