«Reiste fra Norge i mars 1940 for å overta d/s Hero i Singapore. Skipet kom senere i fart på Middelhavet. På reise fra Beirut til Port Said ble det rammet av to torpedoer 6. juli 1942. 32 mann gikk med. Nielsen var død da han ble funnet i sjøen. Gravlagt på den militære kirkegård utenfor Jaffa».
