Han har gjort tjeneste i flåten i 42 måneder og deltok i invasjonen i Italia og Syd-Frankrike, og i Lingayen Gulf, Subic Bay og det sydlige Mindao på Filippinene. Likeledes gjorde han 18 turer over Atlanteren i konvoitjeneste".
Thomas Christensen flyttet til New Jersey med kona Andora (også fra Justøya). To sønner James og Stanley.
