Fra spørreskjema: "Vi stakk ut fra Norge med D/S "Akabahra" med kurs mot Kirkwoll 5. mai 1940. Og så var det å tre inn i aktiv alliert tjeneste. 7 Januar 1943, ble vi torpedert i Middelhavet med D/S "akabahra" vi ble tatt opp av en Engelsk destroyer og ført til Algerie senere ble vi tatt med en Australia-liner til Liverpool. Jeg mønstret på D/S "Marita" i Liverpool 11 Mai 1943, hvor jeg ble til fredsslutningen".
