Kom til England under Lofotradet høsten 1941 , og hadde med kone og tre barn.
Antatt i marinen 13.01.1942 og ble utdannet til skytter i Dumbarton, Scotland.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
D/S ASKELADDEN fra 27.2.1942 til 9.6.1942.
D/S SPICA fra 26.6.1942 til 4.12.1942.
D/S ISBJØRN fra 12.2.1943 til 14.7.1943.

M/T LIND fra 2.1.1945 til 17.7.1945.
Dimittert i august 1945.
For sin innsats for Norge under den annen verdenskrig ble han ble tildelt Krigsmedaljen, Deltakermedaljen og Haakon den VII`s 70 års medalje.
