HAUGE, OLAI, matros, Bergen. Født 24. august 1912 i Lindås, s. av Lars O. Hauge, f. 1886 i Lindås, og Johanna f. Marås, f. 1880. Gift 1937 i Bergen med Kristina Veland, f. 1918. 1 barn. Var matros på m/s Høegh Giant som gikk mellom Amerika og China. Under lasting i Markus Hook nær Philadelphia satte en mantel seg fast i blokken, og Hauge entret opp for å bringe den i orden. Da han skulle ned igjen, mistet han taket og falt i dekket. Han brakk ryggen og skadet ryggmargen, og døde på Chester Hospital 27. juni 1941. Gravlagt i Philadelphia. (Fra «Våre falne»)

Infomation about medals will therefore be registered gradually and be based on different source materials. The war sailors were awarded medals both during and after the war.
