Gikk i alliert fart under krigen som maskinist på m/s Sofie Bakke som sank 4. august 1940, og på m/s Olaf Fostenes som ble torpedert 19. september 1942. Ble innlagt på hospital i Montreal og døde der 23. mars 1943. Gravlagt s. st. Omtalt i Erik Bakkevig: Sunnhordlandslekter, bind 2, s. 310.
"Våre Falne" mener han var født i 1915.
