Iflg. H.dept liste jnr 133. omkom da D/S BJØRKHAUG eksploderte under lasting i Alger 16. juli 1943. Lasten besto bl.a. av skrapjern og italienske landminer.

«Gift 1919 i Volda med Konstanse Lind-Hansen, f. 1895 i Vik i Helgeland. 3 barn. Maskinistkurs i USA. Var før krigen smed i Statens havnevesen og fyrbøter i innenriksfart, til han 1910 dro til Amerika hvor han var i seks år. Var senere maskinist. Seilte under krigen i alliert fart som 2. maskinist på d/s Bjørkhaug. Skipet lå 16. juli 1943 i Algier og lastet miner da det plutselig inntraff en eksplosjon, det sprang i luften og Håskjold omkom».
