I London-kort står det at Hansen mønstret av D/S BUSEN 8 27. januar 1942 i Durban. Denne informasjonen er imidlertid i konflikt med informasjon i søknad om Ex gratia-utbetaling om at han på det tidspunktet var mønstret på D/S SWONA. Det er valgt å ikke ta med førstnevnte i mønstringer fordi den opplysningen muligens er feil.

Han har et attest fra the Admiralty i Bangor N.I. at han tjenestegjorde som 'deck-hand' 1942-1945 om bord M/B Njaal under ansvaret av the Admiralty.
Vestfoldarkivet:
For sesongen 1939/40 var han ved landstasjonen "Leith Harbour" ekspedisjonen som matros på hvalfanger "Stora".
