Minnehallen i Stavern skriver:
Amerikalinjens stolthelt, M/S Oslofjord, ble minesprengt 1. desember 1940 i Tyne-munningen. Hun var da på reise fra Clyde, der hun var blitt ominnredet til troppetransportskip. Etter minesprengningen ble fartøyet satt på grunn, og ble her liggende i tung pålandssjø. Påkjenningene førte senere til at fartøyet brakk i to og ble totalvrak. En mann mistet livet.
