Bach seilte "med S.S Granville (Klaveness) som ekstra mannskap (de var 7 stykker som hadde reist fra Stockholm via Russland og Kina for å melde seg til tjeneste i flyvåpenet i Toronto) fra Hong Kong den 26.06.1941 og ankom San Pedro i California 17.07.1941. Derfra gikk ferden videre til Toronto. Etter opplæring i Canada seilte [Schjelderup] og en medsoldat; Ole Jacob Bach, med MS Ivaran fra New York den 3.04.1943 og ankom Liverpool 21.04.1943". Gunnar Schjelderup (RNAF 1628) tjenestegjorde i flyvåpenet under krigen og var både i Little Norway og i England.
