Fiskerskolen. Var fører på slepebåten CLAUDIUS som gikk i fraktfart mellom Odda og Mosterhamn. Tok midlertidig arbeid som matros på D/S ARGO, og omkom sammen med sønnen Birger Kvalvaag 27. januar 1948 da skipet ble minesprengt og sank i Adriaterhavet.
