Styrmann, Bergen. Født 4. november 1904 i Malvik, s. av Torstein Madsen, f. 1873 i Malvik, og Ingeborg f. Gabrielsen Engevik, f. 1872. Gift 1936 i Bergen med Helga Selvåg, f. 1910 i Finnås. 1 barn. Styrmannsskole. Seilte under krigen i alliert fart som 2. Stvrmann på d/s Frode. Omkom 11. april 1943 da skipet gikk på en mine i Den engelske kanal. Gravlagt på Solheim gravplass, Bergen
Var ombord i "Sørvard" som ble tilbakeholdt i Dakar. Rømte fra skipet 12.4.1941 og kom til Freetown, Sierra Leone hvor han arbeidet ved Leone Coaling Co. fra 30.4.1941. Ankom England 23.12.1941.
