Tjenestegjorde i Den norske brigade fra 01.10.1940 først som menig ved depotkompaniet, så ved KP 2 og KP 3 og som visekorporal i 3. Bergkompani. Han var med Svalbardeksped. fra 08.08.1941 til 10.09.1941. Han sluttet i Brigaden 15.11.1945.
Han ble tildelt Haakon VIIs 70-årsmedalje, Marsjmerket og Skyttermerket i bronse.
