Den 2. juni 1942 var han ombord på MS BERGANGER da skipet ble torpedert underveis fra Santos til Boston. Under forliset omkom 4 mann.
Han ble utdannet til skytter i Lunenburg, Canada.
Gjorde deretter tjeneste ombord på:
MS ROALD AMUNDSEN fra 22.04.1943 til 25.05.1944.
MS SKOTÅS fra 13.06.1944 til 15.01.1945.
MS GENERAL FLEISHER 01.02.1945 til 12.06.1945.
MS KAPTEIN WORSØ fra 22.06.1945 til 16.01.1946.
Kom til Norge med DS STAVANGERFJORD den 06.02.1945, og dimittert ved SSH Oslo den 1. mars 1946.
Han ble tildelt Krigsmedaljen og Deltagermedaljen.
