LIDVARD ankom til Dakar den 31. mai 1940, og ble tilbakeholdt fra den 18. juni 1940. Mannskapet flyktet fra skipet den 15. mars 1941 og kom til Bathurst. Videre som passasjer med et svensk skip, og ankom til Freetown den 27. mars 1941.
