Begynte som ganske ung gutt i N. F. D. S., var senere kelner i Hamburg–Amerikalinjen, restauratør i Stavangerske D/S. Fra 1919 restaurasjonsbestyrer i Troms Fylkes Dampskipsselskap og reiste i selskapets ruteområde til han ble drept av granatsplint ombord på D/S MALANGEN, straks etterat skipet var kommet til Harstad den 21. mai 1940. Han skulle under flyangrep ivareta selskapets interesser, og kom seg ikke til beskyttelsesrommet. Gravlagt i Tromsø.
